Nelson, Nevada is in El Dorado Canyon. It is named after Charles Nelson, a prospector who was slain at his mine in 1897.
One of the biggest mining booms in Nevada history occurred near here, in the El Dorado Canyon. Gold & silver were discovered here around 1859. Later, copper & lead were discovered and mined here.
